Meal followed by Asset Mapping

We will meet for our usual Wednesday evening meal, and then, beginning at approximately 6:10 PM, Dr. Rhonda Abbot Blevins, Executive Coordinator of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Kentucky, will lead our church through a process of Asset Mapping. This event will be the first word in an important conversation initially broached by the deacons in the June deacons’ meeting. The discussion at that meeting began in reference to various important structural concerns we face as a church—most notably, the need for a new roof. Quickly, the conversation turned to the need to take a comprehensive look at these repairs, taking into consideration our entire church property and how best to use and maintain it. The deacons then determined that, in order to answer such questions, we would do well to have a conversation about who we are as a church and what ministries—both new and old—we intend to focus on most directly. It is to that end that Dr. Blevins will be joining us. She will be leading us through a conversation surrounding what “assets” we have at First Baptist Church—both in terms of physical space as well as unique ministries and talents—and helping us clarify how best to use particular spaces for particular ministry purposes. This is, no question, an important conversation, and the quality of the conversation will be directly proportionate to how many voices take part in it. So please plan to join us that evening and lend insight into this important discussion.
