How It Began…
The White Flag Ministry began in 2017 with a growing concern among First Baptist Church members for the homeless community. The upcoming winter propelled that concern into action. After a few conversations, the idea of sheltering individuals at a local hotel came to fruition. In the beginning, we weren’t entirely sure what this would look like “big picture,” but we knew we wanted to help.
Today, the ministry of White Flag has grown beyond our wildest dreams! We have had the opportunity to partner with local businesses, community members, and churches to help serve the homeless population across Corbin. Since its inception in 2017, the White Flag Ministry has provided shelter, food, and counseling to thousands of individuals in need.
In February of 2022, we formed a partnership with RRJ Solutions to provide case management for our patrons. RRJ Solutions specializes specifically in mental health and substance abuse counseling. They have truly been a blessing to work with over the past few years.
The White Flag Ministry is now located in “The Barn” on the property of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Patrons can come to the barn Monday-Friday from 4:00 PM-5:00 PM. to warm up and receive a hot meal, clothing, blankets, counseling, and other resources.
We can't change the world alone, but together, we can make a difference!

The White Flag Ministry can assist you in several ways. When an evening meets our criteria for sheltering, you must come to the barn between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM to receive a meal and get registered.
Upon registration, you will meet with our community partner, RRJ Solutions, and then you can receive a room at a local hotel.
If we are not sheltering, you can still come to “The Barn” on weekdays from 4:00 PM-5:00 PM to receive a meal and other supplies you many need.

We are always in need of volunteer teams to cook and serve meals for our patrons. Volunteer teams are responsible for preparing and serving food for 50-100 people depending on whether we are sheltering or not. This is a great way for local businesses, sports teams, and churches to assist within the ministry.
Additionally, we rely solely on financial donations. 100% of funds received directly benefit the patrons of the White Flag Ministry.
Lastly, we’d love for you to help us bring awareness to others of the White Flag Ministry. You can do this by following and sharing the White Flag Ministry’s Facebook page.
