Alex Lockridge

Senior Pastor

Alex returned to Corbin in July 2020, after having served FBC Corbin as the Minister to Youth and Children from 2012 to 2018. In between his Corbin stints, he served as Pastor at First Baptist Church in Morehead, KY. He feels a pastoral call to lead others by example in following Christ, which means caring for the least of these, joining with God's people in worship, study, and spiritual transformation, and demonstrating and proclaiming God's love for all people to all people.

Alex received his Bachelor's of Art in Religious Studies and Philosophy from Western Kentucky University and his Master's of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University. He is a Nashville native who is married to Maria, a Cincinnati native, and they now affectionately call Kentucky their home. Both of their children, Kayden and Kinley, were born in Corbin. Besides an obvious adoration for family and church ministry, Alex enjoys reading, running, the Chicago Cubs, and, much to the chagrin of his dearly beloved Kentucky friends, the Tennessee Volunteers.

Jeremiah Banks

Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation

Originally from Texas (and still a bit confused about who people are referring to when they say "UT"), Jeremiah is a graduate of Truett Seminary at Baylor University, where he took a particular interest in studying the global church as well as the church’s call to mission. Having earned his bachelor’s in Social Work, Jeremiah had the joy of working with families, youth, and children as a school social worker for 5 years during his time in Seminary.

Now working with the Youth, Children, and Families here at FBC, Jeremiah loves seeing households transformed in the everyday of their lives by the radical story and worship of Jesus. Believing that to be Christian means to be called to mission, he also loves helping families and students explore how they are called to join in God's transformative work in the world.

Carolyn Garr

Interim Music Director

Carolyn Garr began her service as interim music director at FBC Corbin in May 2023. Originally from Fairborn, Ohio, she came to Kentucky in 1983 to attend Cambellsville College. While there she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music education (both vocal and instrumental). In 2000 Carolyn and her husband Ed, moved to Corbin where he served as minister of music in another local church and she was a full-time music educator until her retirement in 2021. They have raised their 4 boys, Judson, Samuel, Edward, and David in Corbin and plan to live here as long as God wants them to be in Corbin.

Carolyn believes that everyone can make a joyful noise - either vocally or instrumentally - and invites everyone to become a part of the FBC music ministry.
